andyMasonPlayingWe have another fun party coming up on Sunday 8/25 at Marna Zanoff & Chuck Boxwell‘s house from 3-6 pm. The RSVP form and invitations are now active. Please submit your RSVP using the link below. This is a pot luck. Plan to bring finger food and your drink of choice. We are featuring singer/songwriter Andy Mason. You may have heard him at the Lamy Woodstock event, or at the Farmer’s Market. He’s really good. Listen on his website.

RSVP HERE NOW >> You will receive directions and information.

Marna Zanoff is an “acrylic abstract painter” who loves playing with color, texture and shapes. Her spirit poles add color and interest to any yard. They sway in the wind and each is different. See her website.

Chuck Boxwell explores form, flow, and space by sculpturing natural stone, working in alabaster, limestone, and marble from around the world. Drawing on is knowledge as an Architect, and experience as an Underwater Photographer, he creates unique objects incorporating shape, movement, and texture.  He enjoys the complexity and planning required to successfully carve a concept into the stone.  This form of three dimensional art is challenging as you can only “take away from” rather than “add to.”

August Party Approaches, and…

Save the date of Sunday August 25th for the next Savor Eldorado party at Marna Zanoff and Chuck Boxwell’s home. RSVPs will be accepted during the first week of August so stay tuned!

Fun news:  Eldorado Living editor Margo Spellman will include a few hundred words about Savor Eldorado in the September edition. I’ll write a little bit and have received some lovely quotes from guests. Thank you!

Additionally, I’d like to pitch a fun event coming up. Remember Woodstock, OMG, 50 years ago?? A bunch of us musicians will be remembering it together at the Lamy Train Depot Park in August. Julie Cunningham entertained us with Larry Diaz at the last Savor party. Alongside Chris and Lisa Harrell, they are deep in the production of this event which will benefit The Child Counseling Center of New Mexico. Sponsor the event and help this important non-profit for kids! You can purchase your tickets and sponsorship here. See more info below.

A Few Pics from 7/7 at the Kaisers

What a sweet afternoon we had at Elaine and Art Kaiser’s yesterday! How good of them to open their gorgeous home twice this year for Savor Eldorado. Julie and Larry entertained us perfectly and kindly invited me to sit in on some tunes. Dan Gowe gave us a wonderful description of how he meticulously crafts his bamboo fly rods. Thanks to Kay Castelle, Pat Murphy and Julie Cunningham for these pics. Save the date for our next Savor Eldorado at Marna Zanoff and Chuck Boxwell’s on 8/25. I will send out a notice and accept RSVPs in early August.

Time to RSVP for Savor – July 7

Time for another fun afternoon party at the Kaiser’s. Elaine and Art are generously opening their home again for a Savor Eldorado event, on Sunday July 7 from 3pm to 6pm. (See some pics from that day.) The World of Dreams Duo with Julie Cunningham and Larry Diaz will be our background entertainment, sharing an extensive repertoire of pop (mostly oldies), 60s and 70s hits, Beatles and originals. Listen to them on CD Baby. (Hear my flute on “Realize.”)

dan gowe

We have a new and exciting kind of art for this event: Dan Gowe will be sharing his handcrafted bamboo fly rods. I visited his Eldorado studio and got the full tour.  It’s quite amazing to let him walk you through the intricate process of making a rod. The tools alone are a trip. Dan has kindly decided to donate 10% of any sales made at the party to our donation til. (Our first $100 check goes to the Vista Grande Library) Contact Daniel if you’d like  to set up a visit. He takes groups as well.

This is a pot luck. Plan to bring finger food and your drink of choice.

RAFFLE: Every $10 suggested donation gets 2 raffle tickets, making you eligible to win a $100 bill. The drawing will be held at about 5:00 pm. Must be present to win. Thanks again to Kay and Gary for being the official treasurers in addition to being our raffle-masters! We are thrilled to start saving extra raffle money to donate to local organizations. More about that as the money comes in.

EXTRA: You are invited to join Hope Kiah and Jim Harlan for acoustic guitar, vocals and improv flute at Upper Crust in Eldorado on Friday 7/5. Read more here.

Some Pics from the 4/28 Party

Sunday was so sweet. The perfect number of guests enjoyed Ellen and Michael Chandler’s lovely home. Perky played mandolin/guitar and sang his fun tunes. Michael shared his beautiful art. The food was delicious and the weather was stunning. Ellen Chandler told Hope that “The cleanup was easy and quick. The whole experience was enjoyable. Such interesting people live in our town!”

Great news! We now have enough extra cash from the raffle to give $100 to a local organization. THANK YOU TO ALL TICKET BUYERS! The Vista Grande Library will be the recipient. It would be perfect if we could hand the donation over to a library person at the next event. So we need an event! Would you like to host? Give Hope a ring at 505-920-2256.

Did anybody take some more pics? If so, reply to one of Hope’s emails and send them along. Or text them. Thanks!
